"FROM OUR BRAVE TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN"
(Page 1)

We want to thank the Tortuga Association Chaplain Larry Fay for sending these great pictures of his Granddaughter Taylor Ann who is stationed at Bagram Airport, Afghanistan. She is attached to a squadron that does radar, communication jamming. Taylor is the keeper of all the squadron’s planes records, hours, spare parts, etc. She has been in Afghanistan since April 1, 2004. She previously served in the Persian Gulf after 9/11 aboard the USS Stennis as a plane captain.

Taylor Ann is the daughter of Robert and Linda MacDonald & the Grandaughter of Larry & Lola Fay. Taylor is married to Scott Healy, they met during their tour aboard the Stennis, and has a baby boy and now are making their home in Anacortes, WA. Taylor and a friend took a tour of the all the different planes from the different services and saw this Army Huey. The crew was doing a pre flight and they asked if they could have a ride, they took a two hour flight.

A LETTER TO HOME FROM TAYLOR ANN…

To All:

I just wanted to share this awesome experience with you. The other day we were going on a helo tour. See, we get bored here at work so we set up tours so we can see the different helos and planes that are here on base. So that day was the Army helos. Our first stop was the Blackhawk. There was a crew here doing a pre-flight inspection so the Helo was wide open. So we started looking around and we asked if we could go flying (thinking they would say no). But they said yes. And before we knew it we had flack jackets on and had given the ground person our name and ssn so we could go flying. No more than ten minutes later we were in the air. Needless to say we didn't finish our tour of the other helos but this was fun.

I felt like I was on a roller coaster they were doing so many maneuvers. They had both side doors wide open. We went through a valley that had roaring rapids and kids floating down it tubes. This country has lots of donkeys. And the way they live reminds me of California missions. With a wall around the whole thing and a big courtyard in the middle. We saw old Russian tanks and guys riding bikes. We landed on top of a mountain at 8500 ft. Its a little colder up there than we are down here at 5000 ft. I have to admit that I did get a little sick but I held it in. About 2 hours later we had completed our tour of what we call the bowl. See, our base is surrounded by mountains and we in the middle at the bottom. I had the time of my life.
Here are a few pictures of the trip. I cant wait to get home and see everyone. Miss you all.

Love, Taylor
